Five major changes appear to be coming to Apple’s lineup in 2025, with the all-new iPhone 17 Air replacing the Plus model as the company’s thinnest iPhone ever.

Industry insiders suggest the device could measure between a jaw-dropping 5.5mm and 6.25mm thick—excluding that pesky camera bump, of course. To achieve this ultra-slim profile, Apple is reportedly returning to an aluminum unibody design, ditching the heavier titanium used in Pro models.

Lighter, thinner, sleeker. That’s the pitch.

The display won’t disappoint either. Expect roughly 6.6 inches of OLED goodness featuring Samsung’s M14 material set. Finally, ProMotion’s 120Hz refresh rate is tipped to arrive on all iPhone 17 models, not just the pricey Pro versions.

Apple’s finally bringing ProMotion’s silky-smooth 120Hz refresh rate to everyone, not just the deep-pocketed Pro crowd.

The Air should include LTPO tech allowing variable refresh rates down to 10Hz, saving battery when you’re just staring at static content. There’s also talk of new anti-reflective coating. Fancy.

Camera-wise, things get interesting. To achieve that slim profile, Apple’s apparently going with just one rear lens—a 48-megapixel wide shooter similar to the iPhone 16. The front camera gets a boost to 24 megapixels, though.

Single lens means no spatial video capture. Sorry, Vision Pro enthusiasts.

Under the hood, the standard A19 chip (not the Pro version) will power the Air, built on an enhanced 3nm process. It’ll pack 8GB of RAM for Apple Intelligence features and might include a vapor chamber cooling system.

The device will likely feature Apple’s first in-house 5G modem and Wi-Fi 7 support. The anticipated lineup of 2025 will include the iPhone 17 Air alongside standard iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max models.

Battery life should remain competitive despite the slender frame, thanks to power-efficient components and possibly higher-density battery tech. The camera module will feature a Pixel-like bar design stretching across part of the rear.

Charging options remain unchanged, though Apple might need special wireless charging solutions compatible with the aluminum back.

Look for the iPhone 17 Air this September 2025, priced around $899. Thin is in, apparently.
